# The MSP Account Expansion Framework

The MSP Account Expansion Framework maps the services a client already buys against the capabilities they are missing, links each gap to a business outcome, and presents a staged proposal so the client can approve expansion work one phase at a time without discounting.

Existing clients are the lowest-cost source of new revenue in most MSPs. They already know your team, your processes and your value. The challenge is to grow that revenue without turning every conversation into a sales pitch.

## Capability mapping

Capability mapping starts with a one-page view of what the client currently buys and what they are missing across six domains: security, continuity, compliance, cloud, support and advisory. The gaps are not sold as features; they are sold as business outcomes.

## Outcome pricing

Outcome pricing means the client pays for a result, not an hour. A backup service becomes business-recovery assurance. A compliance module becomes audit readiness. A security add-on becomes reduced cyber-insurance exposure. When the price is tied to an outcome, the conversation moves from cost to value.

## Staged proposals

A staged proposal breaks the roadmap into quick wins, capability builds and strategic moves. The client can approve the first stage immediately and plan later stages for future budget cycles. This lowers decision friction and keeps the account moving forward.

## QBR rhythm

Quarterly business reviews are the natural expansion conversation. A good QBR reviews current service, surfaces new risks and presents one or two expansion options. It should never feel like a surprise upsell because the capability map has been shared in advance.
